Jim Ortiz

Battalion Chief Jim Ortiz was born and raised in San Antonio ,Texas . In 1997 he attended the San Antonio College Fire Academy and graduated in Dec. of the same year. In 1998 he joined the Del Rio Fire Dept., in 2000 he obtained his Paramedic certification . After serving seven years with the City of Del Rio and The Val Verde Hospital Emergency Medical Services he returned home in 2005 and joined the Alamo Heights Fire Dept. as a FF/Paramedic. In 2008 he obtained his FF/Intermediate and in 2009 was promoted to Fire Apparatus Operator. In 2010 after 5 years with the department Jim was promoted to the rank of Captain. Jim attained the rank of Battalion Chief in December of 2012. Jim is married to his lovely wife Lisa Ortiz and has two beautiful daughters Mia and Madelyn. Battalion Chief Ortiz’s goals for the future are to continue serving the community and to keep serving his fellow firefighters.
